As part of their 30 Years of Four Tour, the American rock band Blues Traveler gave a rousing concert at the Riviera Theatre in Chicago in September 2024. The fall tour celebrates the 30th anniversary of Blues Traveler’s seminal album Four, which was released in 1994 and catapulted an already well established unit headed by vocalist and harmonica player John Popper to the mainstream.

The band’s fourth album was a groove-laden outing that featured Top 40 mainstays “Hook" and “Run-Around,” while deftly combining elements of blues, folk, rock, and roots. Laden with catchy, eminently hummable choruses, this sound defined Americana of the era. “Run-Around” earned the band a Grammy Award and was, at the time, Billboard’s longest-charting radio single ever.

The fall tour travels nationwide and takes in a range of venues, from the Clay County Fair in Spencer, Iowa, to the Graceland Soundstage in Memphis. It follows a successful series of summer performances alongside fellow 90s rock stalwarts Big Head Todd and the Monsters. The jam-laden concerts saw Blues Traveler dust off covers of songs from yesteryear, including Van Halen’s upbeat “Hot for Teacher.”
